Obituary sent by Dick Love: Richmond Marie Love

May 22, 1916 to Sept. 29, 2003

Marie was born to Kellie and Bessie Vardeman in Richland Springs, Texas and was the fourth of nine children. Marie married her first "love" Joe Carl Love and moved to San Diego in 1936. They were married 25 years when he passed away. They were blessed with three amazing children- Dick, Joan and Terry. Marie married Paul Richmond in 1964. She joyously raised his son, Steve as her fourth child.

Marie was a devoted, loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmommie, aunt, sister and friend. She was an excellent homemaker who took immense pride in her family and home. Her "Texas style" hospitality made everyone feel like family.

She was an avid gardener, cook, painter, and bridge player. Her favorite volunteer activity was rocking babies at the St. Paul's Community Care Center. She will always be remembered with love and admiration.

Marie is survived by son Dick and daughter-in-law Norma Love; daughter Joan Love; son Terry and daughter-in-law Annie Love; son Steve and daughter-in-law Sissy Richmond. As well as grandchildren: Kathy, Amy, Brad, Jeff, Heather, Kellie, Michael and Matthew; four great-grandchildren: Beth, David, Andrew and Connor; siblings- Esma, Opal, Ruby, Wendell and Earlene.

The memorial service will be held in the dining room at St. Paul's Manor on Thursday, October 2nd at 1:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Paul's Community Care Center, 328 Maple St. San Diego, CA 92103, where she loved to rock babies.
