    Hood’s Son Weds a Schoolgirl.
    Chicago, Aug. 18, 1898 – Oswald Harney, the nineteen-year-old son of the late Confederate Gen. Hood, and Miss Marie Stewart, the seventeen-year-old daughter of Trainmaster Lewis Stewart of the Chespeake and Ohio Railway, went to Jeffersonville, Ind., today and got married. Young Harney has just been graduated from college and his bride was to have been sent away for another year of school in September.

    Marie "Mary" Stewart was born 21 February 1881 in Pittsburgh, PA married Oswald Hood- Harney, the son of the Confederate General John Bell Hood and his wife Anna Marie Hennen, who after the death of his parents, had been adopted by Mr and Mrs Charles Harrison Harney of Lexington, KY. Oswald was born 11 July 1876 in New Orleans, LA. Marie and Oswald raised two sons: Charles and Hood Harney. Oswald and Mary were separated before 1910 when Mary was living with the two sons and her mother. The couple was divorced in 1918 when Oswald registered for the WW I draft in Manhattan, NY and stated he had two sons in school. Before 1930, Marie married a second time, an attorney, Frank Semple, Jr, the son of Frank and Annie Semple who was born 5 August 1871 in Pittsburgh, PA.
