McKinnon, Marie MCKINNON Marie Irene (Phaneuf) passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2006 at St.Ann's Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband, Harry in October 2000. She is survived by her children: < snip> and six great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her sister, <snip > Best: her brother, and sister-in-law. Marie was born in Moose Jaw on April 21,1918 and was raised in Regina . She and Harry moved to Saskatoon in 1943. Marie returned to univerity at the age of 48, and graduated with a BA degree at age 57 and her teaching certificate at age 58. She then taught at Sion Highschool, where she was beloved by both teachers and students. She retired from teaching at age 70. Through out her life Marie had many interests, some of which included amateur theatre and volunteer work. Marie continued to work as a volunteer at St. Pauls Hospital until December 2005. She was also actively involved in St. Mary's Church as a CWL member and as church organist for many years. All Family was of great importance to her. She loved summers at Pike Lake where all family and friends were welcome. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who knew her, for her caring nature and her strength of spirit and determination. The Vigil of Prayer will be held on Thursday, July 13th, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 14th, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., both at At.Anne's R.C. Church ( 217Lenore Drive), celebrated by the Very Reverend Paul Donlevy. Cremation Committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St.Ann's Senior Citizen Village Corp. (2910 Louise St. Saskatoon S7J 3L8. The family would life to sincerely thank all the staff at St.Ann's Nursing Home for the loving care and kindnees they showed to bith Marie and the family at this difficult time.
