Obituary: Marian Stockton Tullis, 87, died January 27, 2004. Marian was born in Thompson, Georgia. After graduating from Shorter College, she married Henry A. Tullis of Valdosta GA. Henry's career as an engineer for Southern Bell took them to Decatur, Augusta, Athens, Macon, and finally Dunwoody in 1971. Marian's knack for entertaining and playing bridge resulted in many lifelong friends throughout the state. For decades the old friends would gather for weekends of Georgia Tech football or house parties at their cabin at Lake Lanier. In addition to raising her two sons, Hal and Bob, she taught school in both Macon and Sandy Springs. After retiring, Marian was active in garden club, an AAUW gourmet group, and duplicate bridge. Although she was a lifetime master, she always downplayed that fact so that people would not be intimidated playing with her. Above all else in retirement, Marian enjoyed her role of grandmother to Hal and his wife, Jay's two daughters, Stockton and Emilie. She would drop anything to take the girls for the weekend when they were small. She and Henry spent many a weekend cruising around Lake Lanier with the girls. After Henry died and the girls grew older, she would meet them for lunch and little shopping trips. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at Patterson's Oglethorpe Hill on Thursday, January 29, at 1:00 P.M., with a visitation from 10 AM-1 PM, Thursday. H.M.
