Marian (Jay) Beal, age 94, a former resident of Walcott Township, rural Faribault and Medford, died on Saturday, July 9, 1994 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Funeral service was held on Wed., July 13, 1994, at 2 p.m. at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Medford, with Rev. Mary Parker officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery, rural Medford. Members of the Faribault Athens Chapter No. 82, Order of the Eastern Star conducted a memorial service on Tuesday at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home. Marian Lavinia Gee, the daughter of George and Mary McNabb Gee, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa on Dec. 20, 1899. She was united in marriage to Jay L. Beal on June 8, 1928, in Storm Lake, Iowa. They lived in Blooming Prairie until 1950. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1994. Marian graduated from Mankato Teacher College and in the 1920's had taught school in Storm Lake, Iowa, Buffalo Center, Iowa and Truman, Minn. She had held a longtime dual membership in the Blooming Prairie Oak Glen Chapter No 177, Order of the Eastern Star and the Faribautl Athens Chapter No. 82, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a son, John R. (Colleen) Beal of Faribault; daughter, Joyce (Don) Srock of Donna, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Louise) Gee of Marathon, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
