- ↑ An accident of a most painful character occurred on Tuesday last a little
below Taplytown at a steam shingle factory belonging to Mr. Springstead. Mrs. Springstead was helping her husband in the factory when the machinery caught her dress and pulled her under the circular saw, severing body almost in two at the hips.The poor woman lived about an hour, when death put an end to her terrible suffering. Mrs. Springstead was the daughter of Jeremiah Soles. Hamilton Spectator June 7, 1866
