... My grandmother left me a handwritten family history which she wrote around 1935. I have been researching all the families - she didn't have the internet to help her, so there are some errors and lots of missing information. For the Collins family, she names Maria Olmstead as my great great grandmother. I have been unable to find her ancestry, although my grandmother left a few clues (which might or might not be accurate). She mentions family names in the Old World for Maria - Styverts and Golden (Glasgow Scotland). Maria was born on 6 July 1806 in New York. She married Anthony Collins on April 30, 1824 NY. She had two brothers named Lewis, born 13 Sept 1804 NY, and Thomas, born 14 May 1808 NY. Don't know where she got any of the dates - I can't find them. She had 9 children, about whom I have a fair amount of information from my research. ...
