Born March 11, 1912, in Elk Lick Township, daughter of late Moses J. and Edith M. (Beals) Wengerd. Preceded in death by daughter, Harriet Marie (Penny) Gardner, and son Harry Mark Jr., in infancy. Survived by two sisters, Pauline Croasdale, Somerset, and Olis Trimpey, Muncie, Ind.; also three grandchildren; Gretchen W. Asbury, Ingrid M. Gardner and Hank J. Gardner; 5 great-grandchildren. Graduate of University of Maryland School of Nursing. Was nurse in office of Dr. Harold S. Hay, Somerset. Later worked for Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Minneapolis. Retired in 1977. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset. Was charter member of Somerset BPW Club. Memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rev. Glenn Sadler officiating. Interment, St. Paul's Wilhelm Cemetery, Meyersdale. Memorials may be given to Penny Gardner Scholarship Fund, to which Marie MacMurdo's name will be added in care of the Union National Bank, 309 Stump Road, Montgomeryville, Pa. 18834.
