Newspaper Clipping dated October 14, 1929: Marguerite Hooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Hooks married Cecil Stitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Stitt, on October 13, 1929 at First Christian Church. Rev. J. Bryant Young officiated. Her sister, Mrs. Martha Wade Walton, was matron of honor. Mr. Eugene Stitt, Cecil's brother, was best man. According to the newspaper write-up, Marguerite's wedding was the first to take place in the newly completed First Christian Church building. The writer termed it "quite apropos" that Marguerite's wedding was the first to take place there because her late grandmother, Mrs. Martha Wade, and her mother, Mrs. J.H. Hooks, were prominent members of the congregation and instrumental in making the new building a reality. [Marguerite evidently took back her maiden name after the marriage ended.]
