[edit] Personal History[edit] Margot Murdock Eby (1928-2019)Margot Murdock Eby passed away peacefully at Sherwood Oaks in Cranberry Twp., PA, at the age of 91 on August 24, 2019. Margot was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Thomas M. Eby, in 1986 after 32 years of marriage. Margot was born to the late Joseph Murdock and Eleanor Smith Murdock in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Grant Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in that city. After working as an Industrial Nurse at Carson Pirie Scott department store she enlisted in the U.S. Army in April, 1952. She completed the Medical Field Service Officer course and a course in Neuropsychiatric Nursing at Fort Sam Houston, TX. As a First Lieutenant in Fort Lewis, WA, she was honorably discharged in August, 1954 and traveled alone to Tokyo, Japan for her wedding to Tom the following month. In 1954 after Tom's honorable discharge, Margot and Tom moved to Beverly Hills, CA. In 1960 they moved to Fullerton, CA, where she worked in Tom's ophthalmology practice for many years and served in many civic organizations including the Art Alliance of Cal State Fullerton and the Assistance League. Margot traveled widely throughout the U.S. and Mexico, (often as the unofficial co-pilot in Tom's single engine airplane), as well as Europe and Asia. She was an avid skier, water skier, sailor and tennis player. In 2005 Margot moved to Sherwood Oaks to be closer to family and was a faithful congregant of All Saints Anglican Church. During her years at Sherwood Oaks, Margot was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Opera, the Pittsburgh Public Theatre and the River City Brass Band. Margot is survived by her daughters, Lisa Eby Dyrdahl of Kent, WA and Linda Eby King of Pittsburgh, PA; her sister, Helen Meyer of Laguna Beach, CA; and her three grandchildren, Colin King of Pittsburgh, PA, Kelsey King Carter of Naperville, IL and Marissa Dyrdahl of Newport Beach, CA. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 1231 E. Chapman Ave., Fullerton, CA 92831, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Wisconsin Ave./P.O. Box 2155, Cranberry Twp., PA 16066.
