    Published:Aug 26, 2009

Margaret Jean Steacy 1923-2007 Battled two major surgeries and some serious illnesses with courage and determination but succumbed to cancer and passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Marie Steacy and sister to the late John Edwin Steacy (all formerly of Orillia). Deeply saddened by their loss is her loving and devoted sister, Rose Marie Morrison (Kenneth) of Etobicoke and her two adored nephews, Paul Morrison of Etobicoke and John Morrison (Carole) and their children, Gregory and Andrew, all of Guelph. Margaret was a faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder for many years. She was recently honoured with a life membership to the I.O.D.E. The Morrison family will be forever grateful to Anne and Harry Halket (Carole's parents) for their never failing dedication and support for Margaret. They provided her a virtual "LifeLine" in so many ways. Margaret had numerous loyal and caring friends who sustained her by their acts of love and kindness; Anne Eaton, Maggie Murley, Janet Hassen, Elsie Elliott and Ella Wilkie, all of Guelph and her longtime friend, Shirley Robinson of Toronto. Please forgive us for the friends not mentioned but deeply appreciated. Margaret will be remembered as a devoted employee of Foseco for 40 years. Friends may call at Knox Presbyterian Church, 20 Quebec Street, Guelph on Saturday, May 12 (from 1 to 2 p.m.) Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Thomas J. Kay officiating. Cremation Woodlawn Memorial Park, with private inurnment at St. Andrews/St. James Cemetery, Orillia at a later date. At Margaret's request, memorial contributions to Knox Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
