Margaret was crippled by polio. When they were married Joe would carry her around; he would dance with her by lifting her out of her wheel chair. She could walk but could not get up and down from a chair. It was difficult for her to raise four children--she could not even get to them if they fell off the bed. She often was badly burnt by falling on the stove and not being able to get up by herself. dies at age 24 of Polio
