Margaret Annie Kay Muir was b. 2mar1865 at Govan, daughter of John Muir and Margaret Morrison Kay (IGI). 1929 Who’s Who: Sir Alexander Kay Muir, bart. (b. 1868), was son of Sir John Muir and Margaret, dau of Alexander Kay, Cornhill, Lanarks. Sir John Muir, 1st bt of Deanston (8dec1828 Glasgow-6aug1903 Deanston House, Kilmadock, Perths.), son of James Muir (9mar1801-25sep1864) and Elizabeth Brown (d. 1864), married 26jul1860 Margaret Morrison Kay (28aug1841 Glasgow-28aug1929 Deanston Hse) (web). Sir John Muir, East India merchant and mill owner, was Provost of Glasgow 1889-1892 (web); a daughter of his, Agnes Bunten Muir (1866-1894), married William Allan Coats, son of Margaret Glen (whose sister Jane married James Arthur (1819-1885)).
