From Ted Reising

Her maiden-name may have actually been "Muenster", possibly a dau. of Jacob Muenster. The 1860 Brownhelm Twp. Lorain Co. census shows her born in Germany. Jacob Muenster ("Mistrel") is living adjacent to her.

I am researching the Muenster family in connection with a burial in the Lake Rd. Cemetery, Brownhelm Twp., Lorain County:

Jacob Muenster's wife, Anna B. d. 24 Feb 1849 ae. 49y. This was recorded by the D.A.R. in the 1930's, but her headstone seems to be missing from the cemetery now.

At any rate, Margaret is almost surely their dau., because Adam SHOOP is living adjacent to Jacob Muenster in both 1850 and 1860 Brownhelm census. I think that Margaret's maiden-name is recorded as "Minster" in Lorain County marriage records.

Per the census, Margaret Shoop seems to have had 5 children: Eliza ('43), Mary ('45), Charlotte, Henry ('51), and Margaret (Jr.).

Margaret (Sr.) may have died about 1857, because by 1860, Adam Shoop's wife was named Elizabeth. This is probably Eva Elizabeth (Krapp) Shoop-Reifert (she married John Reifert sometime after Adam's death in 1865); she b. 1823, d. 8 Jan.1902, burial Maple Grove Cem., Verm. Adam may also be buried in Maple Grove: a cemetery transcription shows an Adam Shoop died 29 Sep 1865, age "16". I have a feeling that "16" was misread from the headstone, and should be "46", which would correspond to the above Adam. The headstone needs to be examined for verification.

According to Adam's son Henry Shoop's obit, Henry still had three sisters living at the time of his death in 1903. I believe that these would be Eliza Clay, 1843-1918; Mary Hahn, 1845-1930; and Charlotte Perry. [ Based on the notes from Bob McClure that you have in your gedcom, Eliza Shoop apparently married her first-cousin, Henry Clay.]

Coincidentally, Mary (Shoop) Hahn's husband was a relation of mine, so I may come across more about the Shoops.

There was also a Charlotte Shoop who married Hiram Barber in 1865. Others in the Barber family had married others in the Shoop family, also. If it's the correct Charlotte Shoop (dau. of Adam), it would mean that Charlotte was married to Hiram Barber before she married a Perry. This may be them in the 1880 Ohio census: Carryall Twp., Paulding Co., Ohio

In Mary (Shoop) Hahn's obit, Nov. 1930, it says that her sister "Lottie" Perry was still alive, and living in Antwerp Ohio. I also had a notation to myself that said Charlotte/Lottie was also Lottie Barber, so that is probably the right Hiram Barber family from the 1880 census.
