The Descendants of John McAfee, Sr. source shows that Margaret was born in Botetourt Co., Virginia.
The seventh child of James, Jr., and Agnes was Margaret (often called Peggy). She was born in Kentucky, for the date of her birth was May 15, 1780, the year after the McAfees settled in Kentucky. She married John McKamey, who was eleven years her senior, by whom she had children. The reader is referred for further information concerning this branch of the family to the sections devoted to Mrs. Margaret D. Guthrie, Mrs. Champ Clark, and Mrs. Jennie M. Marshall.
Her father mentions her in his will in connection with her four children, in 1809, as if she was then a widow.
