Margaret came to Indiana in 1818. She joined the Christian Church in 1887. She was 85 years old when she died.

Margaret's obituary read: "Good Woman Gone. Margarett Lowery, born in 1814, died August 20, 1899, at the old homestead in Howard Township, of old age infirmities, aged 85 years. Deceased came to Indiana in 1818 with her parents from Rock Bridge, Va. She was married to Wm. A. Lowery in 1837. Her husband died several years ago. Seven children were born unto them, four of whom survive. Aunt Margarett, as she was called by everyone, was a good natured old lady, kind to everyone, and loved by all. She joined the Christian Church in 1887 and has since lived a consistent Christian life. The funeral services were conducted by Eld. Paul Newby and Eld. R. B. Williams, after which the remains were taken in charge by Hunter Bros. funeral directors, and interred in the family burying ground on the old home place. A large crowd of relatives and friends witnessed the last sad rites over the remains of this beloved old lady."
