She was 46 days old when her mother died. In 1930 she was living with her grandmother and step-grandfather, Mary and Louis Dufore, in South Arm, Charlevoix, Michigan.

Obituary

MARGARET IRENE GORDEN

 Passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, at the age of 85.  Margaret was born March 3, 1918 in East Jordan, MI, and was the daughter of Alex and Bessie (Devish) Holmes.  She had resided in the Mayville and Vassar areas most of her life.  On November 30, 1941 Margaret married Judd Gorden.  Judd preceded her in death in 1973.  Margaret was a member of the Huldah Rebekah Lodge #168 of Millington.  When she was able she actively attended the Juaniata Baptist Church.  Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her family, three daughters and two sons-in-law.  Bessie McIntosh of Mayville, Fay and Ron Randolph of Hawks and Lois and Marshall Hernandez of Caro; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Margaret was also preceded in death by three sons,  Willis, Wallace and Frederick.  Funeral service was held Friday, March 7 at 1 p.m. at the Hanlin Chapel for Funerals in Vassar, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Vassar, Pastor Dean Bryant officiated the service.  Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
