22 Feb 1741 - Mary Cofer, wife of Francis Cofer deceased, wrote her will and devised a 378 acre tract to her son Francis. [Prince William WB C:328]

17 May 1744 - Margaret Cofer was made administratrix for Francis Cofer. [Fairfax WB A:58]

James Moore married Margaret, widow of Francis Coffer.

14 May 1749 - They sold her widow's third (126 acres) of the original 378 acre tract to Thomas Withers Cofer, brother to her deceased husband Francis Cofer. [Fairfax DB B:474]

The 378 acre grant stayed in the Coffer family until 1 May 1848 when Francis Coffer, a descendant of the original Francis Cofer, sold it to Wait Broughton of New York for $1500. (Fairfax Deeds 143:267)
