Facts and Events
See Excerpts from the Family Bible of Benjamin Griggs and Jacomyntje Sutphen, as printed in “Jersey Genealogy” No 1910, and published in the “Newark Evening News,” where a daughter, Margaret, is mentioned. Pyrmont Cemetery is situated on the west side of Sulphur Springs Road, bounded on the north by Schoolhouse Road and on the south and west by cornfields. There are three entrances to the cemetery; take the southernmost entrance and proceed along a gravelly path. Go about 3/4 of the way into the cemetery; park about where the Pyrmont Cemetery sign is. There is a concrete platform with a hand pump for water. Just behind this is a monument for Henry Marshall, the father of a grandson of Margaret Simpson. Look just to the left, see a white headstone for Kesiah Redmond. Continue down that row and begin to see a row of Dyes: In memory of Elizabeth Dye, wife of A.S. Dye, etc. In row just behind them towards the road see a marker for Margaret Dye, Margaret Simpson's daughter. Margaret Simpson may be buried beside her to the left. That headstone is worn and illegible. |
