Published in the Beaver County Times (Dec/9/2003) FORMERLY OF INDUSTRY - Margie Arlene Gentry Hineman, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, in Richmond, Virginia. Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Exeter, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Prentiss Gentry and Matie Chambers Gentry, the second of seven children. She graduated from Exeter High School as valedictorian in 1940. Margie enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater of operations as a helicopter instrument mechanic. Leaving the service after World War II, she enrolled in the University of Nebraska with a Spanish major, along with French and English minors. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in her junior year and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1950. She married Marquis Warren Hineman on Sept. 5, 1948. Marquis graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1952. Dr. & Mrs. Hineman lived in Nebraska until 1973, when they moved to Beaver County, Dr. Hineman's childhood home. He passed away Jan. 14, 1996. Margie was active in the American Association of University Women and was a member of the United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Joyce Gentry Smidt, Delbert, Alvin Jr. and Herbert Gentry, and a nephew, Bradley Kaufman. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lynn Prentiss and Victoria Stover Hineman, Springfield, Va.; Tracy Lea and Ed Baldridge, Richmond, Va., and Wayne Curtis and Andrea Zimmer Hineman, San Jose, Calif.; grandchildren, Ethan Clay, Nicholas Warren, Catherine Grace Baldridge, Alison Dee, and Terilyn Jade Hineman; a brother, Boyd Gentry, North Platte, Nebr.; a sister, Carla Gentry Kaufman, Albion, Nebr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the D. L. WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 848 Midland Ave., Midland, where a service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ric Raines, pastor of the Fairview Reformed Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery, Beaver. Full military rites will be conducted by Post 481 American Legion Honor Guard, Midland. References
