Much more likely it was either Rockbridge or Augusta County, VA) Margaret H. GARDNER was born in 1783 in Pennsylvania. She died in 1858 in Georgia. Ken Parker: Margaret's mother died in giving birth to Margaret, and Margaret was reared by her grandparents Elliot. When she was about two years old (1785), her grandfather George Elliot, his sons, his sons-in-law and a few others left Cumberland County, PA and started the journey south to GA. Hearing the Indians were hostile in GA, they spent a year in Rockbridge County, VA. In the fall of 1786, they moved on and made the first white settlement at New Hope in what is now the southern part of Madison County, GA. Margaret's vital dates are included in DAR membership application No. 283749 of Dessie Moore Hartman, who applied for membership as a descendant of Christopher Gardner, and in No. 221082, the application of Mary Dusenbury Platt, a descendant of Richard Saye. Spouse: Richard SAYE. Richard SAYE and Margaret H. GARDNER were married about 1798. Children were: Mary SAYE, William SAYE, John Brown SAYE, James Hodge SAYE, Elizabeth SAYE, Perdilla Newton SAYE, Juliett Wilson SAYE.
