Margaret DREGHORN was b. 22oct1755 at Glasgow (IGI) and chr 5nov1755 (scotlandspeople, IGI). Margaret, daughter of Robert, married James Dennistoun 16oct1785 at Glasgow (IGI). Margaret (d. 1822) married James DENNISTOUN of Colgrain (1748-1816) as his 2nd wife; his 1st wife was Margaret Donald, daughter of James Donald of Geilston. Margaret was the 2nd daughter (Minute book of the Board of Green cloth, 1891, by Colin Dunlop Donald, b. 1848). Margaret Dreghorn and James had 4 daughters, who became heiresses to their uncle Robert “Bob Dragon” Dreghorn (d. 1804) (Genealogical and heraldic history of the landed gentry, 1836, and Old Glasgow Exhibition, which claim Allan Dreghorn was the father of Margaret). Robert Dreghorn was probably the father (Burkes landed gentry 2001, Minute book of the Board of Green cloth). The 4 daughters were b. from 1788-1793 (vital records). The eldest daughter and her husband sold Ruchill to James Davidson (1772-1850) in 1835 (Old country houses of the old Glasgow Gentry). Scottish archives have the will of Marg Dennistoun in Ruchill (her daughters are named), reg 1822 (scotlandspeople). References
