Montgomery County, Indiana BIOGRAPHY G.S. Durham H.W. Beckwith History, Montgomery CO IN p 349 G.S. DURHAM, farmer, Russellville, was b. in Putnam Co IN 1835. His father, Jacob Durham, was a native of Boyle Co Ky and marr. Hannah SPEARS and came to Putnam Co 1827 settling at Russellville, where he was one among the first. He kept the first dry goods store of that place. The subj. of this sketch owns as fine a farm, consisting of 320 acres as Montgomery Co. affords. In 1861 he marr. Miss Maggie M. Black, daughter of Miller and Maggie Black of this co. She was b. in Montgomery Co Ky 1841. their family are two sons and two daus: James E; Mary C; Florence M and Lee S. Mr. D. has for many years been a member of the Meth. Episcopal Church and votes the Democratic ticket.


"Wm. Black's Descendants" 110.MARGARET MILLER BLACK was born in Montgomery County, Kentucky, Aug. 18, 1841. She married George Spears Durham, brother of James V. Durham in No. 133, Feb. 5, 1861. George Durham was born in Russellville, Indiana., Aug. 20, 1835, died Russellville, Indiana.
