Born Auline, name changed to Arlene by second husband who claimed that Auline wasn't a real name.

Moved to Atlanta after divorcing Vernon Albea. According to daughter-in-law her second husband owned a hotel at 400 Whitehall St. According to the researchers at the Atlanta History Center: “The hotel at 400 Whitehall Street was called The Frederick Hotel.  It became a hotel in 1941.  Prior to this date, the building served as an apartment complex called The Frederick Apartments.  James L. Wilson became the hotel’s manager in 1945 and served in this capacity until 1957.  James and his wife, Auline, lived in the building during the tenure.  According to the city directories, Brandon Harry managed the hotel in 1941, Horace L. Jordan managed it in 1942, and Mrs. Annie L. Easlie managed the establishment in 1944.  From 1961 to 1966, the city directories list 400 Whitehall as The Frederick Hotel and Dixie Apartments.  In 1967, the building’s final year, the directory lists the name as The Frederick Hotel.”

Found in the “Street Address Telephone Directory Atlanta 1955 - 1956 Winter” as: “Jas L Wilson... CY-5190 400 Frederick Htl.... LA-9339”

The same directory lists the hotel in the front directory as: “Frederick Hotel... 400 Whitehall St. SW”
