To get further information, you may be able to get some from McVeytown, PA authorities. They may have record. There are relatives living there, at least did. Daddy had a sister, Katherine, who had people there. She lived in Lewiston, PA, and is the only one of his people I knew. She died in Lewiston, PA. I am not sure but I believe some information could be gotten from the big library here (Washington, D.C.), but I do not know how you would go about getting it. It is the Congressional Library. They have all kinds of information about things. It takes someone who understands about those things to get it. Well, I am sorry that I cannot help you anymore as I have no more records. I would gladly give it if I had. Hope you will be successful in completing this. I would be interested in seeing a copy when completed. I hope what I have been able to get together will be of some help. It is the best I could do. Excuse my errors in typing as I am only an amateur. I can’t do much writing by hand due to arthritis, This way I can write so people can read it, even if not perfect typing. I trust this will find all well and have a Happy Holiday Season. Remember me to your mother and tell her I would like to hear from her. If any of you come to Washington, D.C., at any time, be sure to come to see me. I shall be glad to see you. I am in fair health but have an allergy under my left knee and feet that bothers me. Still taking treatments for it. Hope it soon gets well. I am not working anymore, due to my age you can’t get work. So, I have to do next best, stay home. I would rather work. But, I have my own apartment and a place of my own to call home. I will be 72 in 1960. I could go with my son, but they have three little tots: Margie Kay, 4 years, Carla Jean, 3 years and James Carl (little Jimmy boy) is two years old. They are all darlings to me, but too much for my nerves to be around all the time. I love them dearly and keep them quite often for different reasons, but I tire out and could not take it all the time. I have Social Security and with a check from Assistance. I make out pretty good. It is a tight squeeze but I can come and go as I please and am on my own, which means a lot when you get up in years. So, I am very thankful for what I have and do not complain. I have a nice three room, with bath, apartment. Well, I will close for now with best regards to all. I remain as ever, Your Great Aunt Mrs. Marion Mallie M. Davis |
