    "Maoliosa, or Malo-Ioss, or Gille-Iosa, means the servant of Jesus. He was a distinguished follower of Alexander III of Scotland and was conspicuous in expelling Haco."

    Tradition affirms that Malise, or Gillise, fought under Alexander III at the battle of Largs in 1263. It also asserts that he held some lands in Kintyre.
