BIOGRAPHY: The following information is as given by Malcolm Douglas Knight, son of Malcolm Steven Knight via a phone interview on 1 Oct 2000. Malcolm D. Knight's address at the time was: Mac Knight 1242 Millbrook Rd. Jackson Ctr, PA 16133 Phone #(814) 786-8446 Accordingly, Malcolm owned a gold/silver mine in Death Valley California, and sold it to the U.S. Government in 1944/1945 (Malcolm D. about 2 Yrs old), when Death Valley became a National Monument. Malcolm D. has visited the said mine and relates that it is aproximately 8 miles towards Trona from Furnace Creek. It is reported that Malcolm S. Knight served in the U.S. Army during WW2 as a cook. Apparently when he got out of the service(possibly AWOL) in 1941 he moved to Death Valley and there mined until his children reached school age. At this time he sold the mine and moved the family to Argus,California. It is reported that at this time the family purchased a home in Argus which supsequently burned down on the christmas eve that Malcolm D. was aprox 4/5 years old. The family the bought another home "just up the road" and there resided until the couple divorced. While living in the Furnace Creek area of Death Valley, the family apparently did not live in a home or other building structure, but lived in the mouth of the mine.
