Born Julia Duncan, natural daughter of Tessa F. Duncan.Reportedly left with Helen E. Sealy in Cedar Rapids at about theage of 5, and formally adopted by Helen Sealy, then a widow, in1892. Two natural brothers were still living in 1902, accordingto a letter received from Perry Duncan of Cleveland, Ohio.
