I know that based on the 1910 Census she was living in Lusby’s Mill Owen County Kentucky. When that would be the first of the moves that her family made when she was a very young girl. Maggie can be found in several records and she’s rarely in the same place twice. While she was the 5 th child born to Cora and George she would soon lose two of her older siblings. By 1913 two of her siblings would die of the measles. I know that people died a long time ago of something that is so simple to protect our kids from today.

I would assume the reason they moved around so much was the lack of income needed to take care of the family, but I have no way to confirm or deny this assumption. Information given to me by Zella Wainscott's daughter is they moved around a lot due to thier father having a short temper and would get angry with his employers and up and move his family.

By 1920 the family was found living in Corinth, Grant County KY based on the 1920 Census.

Sometime in the late 1920’s Maggie married a man by the name of Porter Furnish (?). From what I gather based on the nephew of Maggie that he died very early in their marriage of a accidental bite to the hand from a hog. Since it was in between census records I once again have no way to confirm or deny this.

This is a photograph of Zella Wainscott and her husband Otha Holliday on their wedding day and on the left is Maggie and Porter. As you can see Zella and Maggie looked a lot alike. With this being in the late 1920’s I am unsure where Katherine the youngest sister isn’t there. On the back of the picture is state’s Otha Holliday, Zella Wainscott, Maggie Wainscott and Porter Furnish on their wedding day Feb 11 th 1927. So perhaps they married the same day I am unsure.

I know that by the 1930 census Maggie is found living is District 2, Grant county KY. She is married to William Dungan and they had their first baby my grandmother Dolores Dungan (July 4 th 1930). After that she had another daughter Dorothy Dungan (July 9 th 1931), Billy Dungan May 17 th 1933 and the baby Bobby November 12 th 1938.

I have not been able to find out the date but Maggie got sick sometime in the early 1940’s. It was cancer she was told by the doctors that she had cervical cancer and she needed to have the operation to remove it. Well when she went to her husband and asked for his permission to have the surgery she was denied. Then that began her search to find out how she could get the only thing she was told by doctors that would save her life, she then went and filed for divorce from her husband William Dungan. Shortly after that divorce, she remarried a man named Arthur Turner. Although some family members believe that she never remarried that she died when William and her was still married I can prove with the death record and headstone

This headstone as you can tell is that of Maggie Wainscott. Her grave marker can be found at Hillcrest Cemetery located on Hwy 25 located in Dry Ridge Grant County KY. She is buried in the back of the cemetery near the center. She is buried at the foot of her parents George Wainscott and Cora Bickers.
