... My recent interest in this area was stimulated by Sabine Schleichert, the
German genealogist who worked with us on the 1754 Flory brothers Birkenau
project. Sabine came across a reference to a Peter Meyer, who died in
Switzerland in 1735. His wife was Catherine Flory, who had died about two
years' earlier. Since the two did not have any children, their estate,
which was not insignificant, was divided among their siblings. Siblings of
Catherine included an unnamed brother and her sister's children who then
were "im Neuen Land." Sabine tells me that the phrase "im Neuen Land" could
only mean "America." ... For your interest, I have included a genealogy of Catherine Flory's
(Meyer) Swiss Flory family as far as is known. This genealogy was prepared
by Sabine ... Catherina's siblings included Franz,
Magdelena, and Anna, as well as the unnamed brother and sister. ...
