Mae S. Bean, 86, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lamb- Roberts Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 13, 1919, at Ottawa to Herman P. and Marie A. (Reimer) Shephard. She attended schools in Ottawa and graduated from the Carbondale High School, Carbondale, Ill.
She married Walter Novick. He died in 1954. She married Charles Johnson. They later divorced. She married Carrol Bean. He preceded her in death.
She worked as a dietary cook for Ottawa University, Ransom Memorial Hospital and the Onaga Community Hospital in Onaga.
Her hobbies were crocheting, bowling, baking, solving puzzles and taking care of her African violets.
Survivors include daughters, Billie Eads, Ottawa; Wendy Novick and her companion Loren Hines, Pomona; Joan Taylor and her husband, Ralph, Ottawa; Evelyn West and her husband Jerry, Richmond; Irene Steffey, Ottawa; and D'Ann Roehl and her husband Keith, Ottawa; a sister Bernice Dussart, Colorado; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Novick; a grandson, Nathan Novick; a great-grandson, Wyatt Wiederholdt; brothers, Stanley and Melvin; and sisters, Genevieve, Evelyn, Thelma and Velma.
She will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
