An "M.C. Harris" served as 1st Lt. & Adjutant to Col. Nicholas Gould in the 23d Texas Cavalry, which was raised mostly in Hopkins, Bowie, & Denton Counties. Since Harris was the son-in-law of Charles DeMorse, Colonel of the 29th Texas, he had connections.

This individual is buried at Clarksville Baptist Cemetery (now part of Clarksville Cemetery), with a military marker but lacking dates. Is this him? Did he die in the War, possibly following the Battle of Mansfield?
