What follows is from Eugene W. Harper in January 2005:

"My uncle, Mack Harper, was famous for arguing. In fact, he would argue anyhing on either side of the issue and would do so convincingly. He should have been a lawyer like myself. What was interesting, was that Uncle Mack was working as a mechanic in Hialeah, Florida and every evening after work he would go to one particular bar. Before long he had a crowd. I remember this was what always happened wherever Uncle Mack went. A crowd always developed because he would sit there and argue with everyone and it became a great show. Anyway, one night the owner of the bar and grill insulted Uncle mack, or at least he thought it was an insult, and mack stopped going to the bar. The bar owner's business went out from underneath him, so the bar owner actually went to Uncle mack and tried to make a deal with him to pay him $200.00 per week and all the beer he could drink to come back to the bar and drink and argue. However, Uncle mack continued to be insulted and took his business elsewhere."
