    Mac Axe

    Mac Axe, 87, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

    Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Highland Heights United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Brownlow officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery. Masonic Graveside Rites will be conducted by Midland Lodge # 623.

    Mr. Axe was born on September 3, 1928 in Coleman, Texas. He was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church. Mac worked for Western Union and retired from Southwestern Bell after thirty years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving from October 1946 to July 1952 in the signal corp. Mac was an avid gun enthusiast winning several medals in Black Powder Gun Competition and also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He lived in Sweetwater since 1961 moving from Midland.

    Survivors include: Wife-Donna Axe of Sweetwater, TX; 4 Daughters-Vickie Builta and husband, Jim, of Midland, TX, Dana Neagle of Midland, TX, Pam Pierce and husband, Mark, of Cherokee, Iowa, Donita Achenbach and husband, Loren, of Sweetwater, TX; Son-Mike Sitts and wife Marlene of Breckenridge, TX; Sister-Marion Axe of Midland, TX; Sister-in-law: Frances Viser of Abilene, TX; 8 Grandchildren; and 17 Great-Grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettye Jean Viser Axe, on September 13, 2001; his parents, Winnie and Fred Axe; and a sister, Maxine Drury.

    Pallbearers will be Bobby Builta, Loren Achenbach, Fred Drury, Clifford Williams, Dusty Lovell and Rusty Allen.

    Family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home.

    The family would like to say a special thank you to the hospice unit at Hendrick Medical Center.

    In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Sweetwater Rifle and Pistol Club or Highland Heights United Methodist Church.
