Mabel Ruth Woofter, 85, of Flora, died at 12:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 1996, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.
Private graveside services will be Friday at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville, with Stuart Liegey officiating.
There will be no visitation, and Frank & Bright Funeral Home, in Flora, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
She was born June 14, 1911, in Louisville, the daughter of George and Della (Laughner) Tolbert. She married John E. Woofter in November 1933, in Kilgore, Texas. He preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1989.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Flora. She was also a member of the church's Ever Ready Sunday School Class, was a past member of the Flora Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the Clay County Historical Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Arleen Kunze, and her husband, Bernie, of Olney; two grandchildren, Kim Vance and Kevin Wilson, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Vance, both of Atlanta, Ga.; and a half-brother, Arthur Tolbert, of Olney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother and a sister.
