From the Peoria (IL) Journal Star, Monday, March 7, 1994: HAVANA, IL - Mabel A. Bramlet, 88, of 803 S. Urbana Ave., Urbana, formerly of Havana, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 1994, at Mason City Area Nursing Home in Mason City. Born Jan. 21, 1906, in Havana to Frank and Cora Blakeley Keest, she married Homer D. Bramlet on Nov. 24, 1939, in Bowling Green, Mo. He died Sept. 13, 1966. Surviving are several cousins. A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, she taught music and art in Silvis, Eldorado and Howard, S.D. She later moved to Chicago, where she was a librarian at the University of Chicago Library from 1944 to 1967. She was a member of Mason City Christian Church, Delta Omicron Sorority, International Music Sorority, Champaign County Area Retired Teachers and Antiques Study Group in Champaign. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Image Gallery
