'Thomas Whetton, born perhaps about 1715, died, probably in Alford, Massachusetts, in 1785. Being "of Plymtown", he married in Falmouth, Massachusetts, on 1 June 1736, Lydia Weeks. Interestingly enough, the banns of marriage of this couple were published at Plympton on 1 September 1733, nearly three years earlier. Lydia was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Chase) Weeks, who eventually left Falmouth and settled in Carteret County, North Carolina. The Will of Benjamin ("Bingham") Weeks of "Cartwright Conunty" [sic] was dated 9 November 1744, and among other legacies left "One Shilling, Sterling to my Daughter Lidde Witton." '
