!BIOGRAPHY: Info. from Cassedy genealogy: LYDIA b. Saratoga Co., NY 1817; d. Saratoga Co., NY 30 Oct. 1865 aged 48; bur. Baptist (Gorsline) Cemetery, Halfmoon, NY; John Cassedy’s weather journal entry of 13 Apr. 1857 states “Mary started Lee, MA with Lydia Tyler to attend school there” and entry on 27 Nov. 1856 states “Lydia Tyler started for Lee”; she above mention of her being unmarried and living with parents; Lydia seems to have been favored with the best education in the family and was credited with teaching her young nephews, William & Thomas (ref. Thos. Cassedy’s letter to grandson, William); she was apparently much admired by John who mentions her often in his weather journal, also in his account book is a piece of scrap paper with her name written over and over amid other things, Doris Cassedy remembers her grandmother saying the sisters didn’t get along very well, John Cassedy’s account book enumerates items of expense for her funeral and headstone; Never Married
