  1. Why the names of the children are different.

Lydia had been married to a man namedRose. When he died she received widows benefits. She latter had John Robert and Henry. Their father is James L Boggs, Although they were given the last name Rose because she would have lost her benefits . She later did marry James L Boggs. John Robert Rose legally changed his last mname to Boggs. Henry did not. This has caused me cunfusion in doing any research as I am a decendant of Henry Rose and I just found out a few weeks ago that my ancestors are actually Boggs. Hope this helps.

These notes are from Don Boggs

Barbara, Over the past several months I've been corresponding with some of the researchers of the Burchfield clan and this info is the best that I can provide at this time.
I'll start with one Nathan Burchfield, who is suppose to be the son of Thomas and Sarah Leginwood/Leatherwood?,I can't say 100%.

Nathan Burchfield b 1747 Fredricks Co., Md, d March 1783 Burke Co., NC.
    Spouce: Averilla/Aberilla? Wilson
    Children:
    1. Robert Burchfield(no info)
    2. Nathan Burchfield jr,b1776 NC, d1863, m Anna Mckinney b 1785, and produced 8 children.
    3. Larkin Burchfield b 1780 NC
    4. Lydia Burchfield b 1781 NC.,d 1865 Lewis Co., KY, m 1 Sept 1796 to Jacob Rose b. 1765, d. Sept 7, 1814
    5. Hezekiah Burchfield b1782 NC
Notes on Nathan sr: Nathan was accused of being a Tory(British sympathizer) in 1782 and was to appear in Burke Co. court Mar. 1783,before this date he was killed. In Lydia's pension app., she states, that she was told, that her Father was killed at The Battle of Kings Mtn in 1780. This could not be so, because of his name on the 1782 docket of Burke Co. The other story is that he was killed in an Indian raid in 1782/1783, between the court docket and the March, 1783 court appearence.
Notes on Averilla/Aberilla Wilson: I can't say for sure if her name was Wilson, everyone displays it as such, so we can ride that horse, till we get thrown. After Nathan's death she recieved his estate, which I have a copy of, and lived as a widow the remainder of her life. She can be found in the 1790,1800,and 1810 census of Burke Co., NC, after that she seems to disappear, except that there is an Aby Burchfield, female, living in Butler Co., KY close to Larkin and Robert. This could possible be her. Also, Lydia is listed in the 1840 or 1850 census of Carter Co., Ky with a female 80/90 years old living with her??? I'll stop for now, this hunt and peck style of typing that I do is getting to my Carpal Tunnel.
