Ilhas de Zargo says about these Pereiras, There is a "justificação de ascendência" (proof of nobility or ascendancy) dated from 1516 made by a member of that family, which proofs that they descend from the noble house of the Pereiras (whose ascendancy I sent to the list). It is probably kept at Torre do Tombo, Lisbon, and it contains the ascendancy of that individual, who, given the date, will probably be R Pereira da Silva. This will be assuming I make the connection to RU..Iwhom I think will be Luis grandfather.

Per Paulo: This name appears on FBM nobiliary under the title "Pereiras da Silva", they are most probably from old nobility, the Pereiras, the family of the famous Nuno Álvares Pereira of Aljubarrota Battle, and from Nuno da Câmara Pereira, the fado singer and (recently) political leader.
