  2. ↑ Records from later in life give her birth year as 1878, but Oct 1878 is only 10 1/2 months before her brother's birth in Aug 1879. Her first marriage record says she was 21, consistent with a birth date in Oct 1877. This can't be taken as definitive, as it was not uncommon for people to pretend to be older than they were so they didn't need parental permission to marry. However, if her brother's birth date is accurate, it seems likely she was born in 1877, not 1878. (I could not find this family in the 1880 census.)
