n Clarion, Pa., Monday morning, July 14th, 1890, Luella C., wife of Wm. E. Page, aged 28 years and 10 months.
- - Our community was startled on last Monday morning by the announcement of the death of Mrs. Will E. Page of this place, at her home on Liberty street. Although Mrs. Page had given birth to a young daughter about three weeks previously, she had almost recovered her normal health and was going about the house some time previous to her sudden demise. On Monday morning the family had risen early. Mr. Page had eaten his breakfast and was engaged in looking over some accounts of his ice customers, with his wife at his side, when she suddenly complained of being very sick. Mr. Page carried her to a couch nearby, then ran for his sister-in-law, Mrs. B. F. Page, next door and leaving his wife in her care ran for a doctor. When he returned a few minutes later the spirit of the loving wife and mother had flown. Although she conversed rationally for a few moments after she was laid upon the bed, her breathing was so labored that suffocation seemed to be the immediate cause of her death. While her death was the result of heart failure, the causes leading thereto are not known, save that it was thought be partially attributable to the fact that she sustained a severe nervous shock on the Fourth of July by the explosion of large fire crackers or cannon near her residence.
The deceased was a daughter of T. A. Brinkley of this place, was an affectionate wife and devoted mother whose place in the family circle can never be filled. She leaves, besides other relatives and friends, a grief stricken husband and three children, the youngest little more than three weeks old, to mourn their loss. To them is extended the sympathy of all who know them. The funeral services were held at the late residence of the deceased on Wednesday morning at ten o’clock, after which the remains were laid to rest in Clarion cemetery.
