James Alcorn file, Soldier's Certificate No. 656.737, Civil War, Union, Pension File, Date of Filing: 1890 Oct 21 in Minn; Widows Pension File No. 518.907 under Sarah J. Alcorn, Date of Filing: 1900 July 30 in Minn. Enrolled in Marine, Washington, Minn on 31 Dec 1863 as a private at age 33 in Company K, 2nd Cavalry Regiment Minnesota in the Civil War and was honorably discharged at Fort Snelling, Minn on 04 May 1866.

March 1901 - Letter written by Lucinda Campbell states that she has been a resident of May, Washington, MN for the last 40 years. She knew and was well acquainted with the late James Alcorn of the town of May. States that since the close of the war James Alcorn & surviving wife Sarah J Alcorn have also been residents of said town and up to the day of his death lived together as man and wife. James Alcorn was married previous to Sarah J to affiants twin sister Maria Fee. That said sister died at her old home county ? Indianna in the State of Pennsylvania in the month of January A.D. 1859 as affiant was informed by relatives, which information was confirmed during a visit by affiant to her old home in said Indianna County a few years ago.
