Laughner, Elizabeth "Betty"
92, of St. Petersburg, passed away November 10th at The Masonic Home of Florida. She is survived by her loving husband Bill, sons Gregory, of Williamsburg, VA and Jim (Gail), of Fairhope, AL. Born in Norfolk, VA she was a Virginia Farm Girl. Her father taught her to ride at three years old and she had a lifelong love of horses. She graduated from college in 1942 and taught in a one room school house close to Williamsburg, VA. She married William Laughner, a student at UVA in 1942. Betty was an equestrian, swimmer, beach goer, and a sailor with the "Barnacle Belles," an all female sailing group in Redington Beach FL. She taught riding lessons and rode horses well into her 80's. She is a member of Pasadena Community Church and choir, and a Breast Cancer Survivor. Services were held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness.
