Near Pardee, Kansas, July 18th, 1878, of internal inflammation, Lavonia S., elder daughter of Nelson R. and Rosellar Stillman, aged 18 years, 6 months, and 2 days. Brother Stillman and family had just arrived from Farina, Ill. Their household goods had not yet come, but disease and death did not wait. This young sister was taken suddenly sick, laid prostrate about ten days, and died. She made a profession of religion in the Spring of 1877, was baptized by Bro. O. U. Whitford, and united with the church at Farina. She suffered much and was able to converse but little, yet occasional expressions showed that she understood her situation, and that she was calm, trusting in Christ. She was buried at Nortonville on Sixth day; funeral sermon on Sabbath, July 20th. S. R. W.
