  17. "Mrs. Lavine Ritter, who died at her home on South Wayne street Wednesdaymorning, May 26, 1926, was born in Steuben township, Indiana, May 28,1865. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 60 years, 11months and 28 days. She was the daughter of Jonas and Magdalina Mountz,both of whom have preceeded her in death. She was united in marriage toLevi Ritter, September 11, 1881. To this union were born four children-- Zena Maud, who died in infancy; Mrs. Genieve Warring, of Jacksontownship; Bart S., and Harry L. Ritter, of Angola, who with her devotedhusband survive. In early life the deceased united with the UnitedBrethren church at Mt. Zion. In 1920 she transferred her membership tothe Methodist Episcopal church of Angloa, and remained a faithful andtrue member until her death. She was member of the Ever Ready class ofthe Sunday school and of the Martha and Dorcas Ladies' Aid societies andalso a member of the Ladies' Auxilary of the American Legion. Mrs.Ritter was devoted to her home, loyal to her husband and true in herfriendships and highly respected by all who knew her. She loved thefellowship of God's people and when her health permitted was a faithfulattendant to all the services of the church. As the end came her hopebrighter and at last she quietly passed away from her earthly home withunwavering faith in God to that immortal home above. "Leave all to God.Thy vision cannot scan His ways of righteousness. His depths of grace,but thou shalt know when thou shalt see His face. How full and holy Hisperfect plan." She leaves to mourn, besides the loved ones mentionedabove, two brothers, Jacob Mountz, of Angola, and T.J. Mountz of Hamler,Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Jennie Ransburg, of Metz, Mrs. Hattie Oberlin,of Ashley, Mrs. Lizzie Brugh, of Licters Ford, Ind., and Mrs. EttaMortorff, of Pleasant Lake; four grandchildren, together with many otherrelatives and friends.
    It is natural that we fall asleep
    Like tired children when the day is done,
    That I would question why the living weep,
    When Death has kissed the laughing lips of one.
    We do not sigh where golden skies have doomed
    The purple shadows and the grey of night;
    Because we know the morning lies beyond
    And we must wait a little while for the light.
    So when grown weary withthe care and strife,
    Our loved ones find in sleep the peace they craved
    We should not weep but learn to count this life
    A prelude to the one beyond the grave.
    And thus be happy for them, not distressed,
    But lift our hearts to God and smile.
    And we anon, like tired ones will rest
    If we hope and wait a little while.
    Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Angola, Fridayafternoon, May 28, Rev. H.A. Homers officiating. Interment in CircleHill Cemetery."
