Records in the office of the Berrien County Clerk indicate under file A249 her name registered as Ervilla L. Sharai. Marriage certificate for John W. Sharai and "Emily" Rebecca Seely shows "Emily's" real name to be "Ervila", so my guess is Lula's real name is Louisa Ervila Sharai. In the early days after finishing her schooling, "Emily" worked as a housekeeper for $2 a week. At the time of her death at age 91, she occupied the old family homestead, which had been in the family for more than 100 years. It had been awared the Centennial Farm honor a few years before her death.
