MRS. LOUISA DRURY
The death occurred at her home at Moto on Sunday of Mrs. Louisa Drury, wife of Mr Edwin James Drury. The late Mrs. Drury, who was 74 years of age, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Hammond, of Jones Island. After her marriage at Jones Island Methodist Church on July 25, 1900, she lived at Mambo Island for a short period and at Oxley Island for two years, before moving to Moto, where she resided until her passing. The late Mrs. Drury was a life-long member of the Methodist Church, to which she was deeply devoted. Until an unfortunate fall seven years ago resulted in her long illness, she was regularly in attendance at services. Her strong Christian faith and kindness won for her the respect and love of all with whom she came in contact. Closely attached to her home and family, she rejoiced in the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of her delights was to have the young ones sing their Sunday School hymns to her. The late Mrs. Drury was a lover of flowers and derived much enjoyment from working in her garden, which was often admired. She was ever willing to help those in need. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Percy (Moto), and Leslie Mambo Island), and two daughters, Ethel (Mrs. W. Cadden Oxley Island), and Edna (Mrs. A. Robertson, Cundletown), together with 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Messrs. John E. Hammond (Ghinni Ghinni), and James Hammond (Jones Island) are surviving brothers. Deceased brothers and sisters are Charles. Thomas and Henry Hammond. Mary (Mrs. W. Nixon), and Elizabeth (Mrs. W. Shoesmith). The funeral left Coopernook Methodist Church on Monday, after a service conducted by Rev. Sherlock for the Dawson cemetery. Rev. G. A. Knight officiated at the graveside. Funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. W. T. Howard.
