BURLINGTON — Mr. Louis “Ed” Coble Sr., 86, of 822 Trail One, Burlington, died suddenly at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10 a.m. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Pauline Coble, who survives, and the son of Clyde Franklin Coble and Fleta Rolita Ferguson Coble, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from Holt Manufacturing after 42 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elon. In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include one son, Louis E. Coble Jr. [born 1954] and wife, Clara, of Snow Camp; four grandchildren, Mark Lindley and wife, Diane, of the home, Cheryl Lindley of Burlington, Eddie Coble and wife, Kathryn, of Bailey, and Christie Sykes and husband, Robby, of Graham; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Coble Lindley. The funeral will be conducted at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Shelton and the Rev. Rick Chandler. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence.
