- In the marriage record she is referred to as Lovena (i.e., Lovina) Rice of Marlborough. This suggests that she might possibly be an unrecorded daughter of Peter Rice and Lovina Howe of Marlborough. This couple is not known, however, to have had a daughter named Lovina. Their three known children were Matthias b. 1773, Lucy b. 1774, and Eli b. 1777, all at Marlborough. The Edmund Rice Association website does not mention any Lovina/Levina/Lavina Rice that married to Abel Newton. Of those listed, there is a Levinah Rice, d/o Jonas of Brookfield, b. 1771, but she m. Samuel Bigelow. There is a Levinah Rice, d/o Micah of Sudbury, birth unknown (but the father b. 1740 so probably about 1765-1770), about which no information is shown. There are no other feasible candidates bearing this name but the website does not show the 6th generation from the immigrant, only the first 5.
